  2. Is your business listening to the Voice of the Customer (VoC)? If not, you might want to start now – as it is becoming a top priority among most online businesses. This rise in popularity is owed to the fact that Voice of the Customer programs (and therefore Voice of the Customer tools) have recently become a critical element in customer experience initiatives.

  5. A great many companies continue using market research institutes that collect data through extended surveys in order to evaluate their websites. Every quarter, a bulky power point presentation then puts forward the collected data and analyses mishaps and improvement actions.

  6. Historically the company had used a much more basic approach, as Christiaan Buitenhuis, Senior Market Researcher explained, “The old approach was much more Do It Yourself, we had to make calculations in Excel to find the Net Promoter Score for example. With the Mopinion solution these tasks are now already done. Mopinion offers us a big advantage and this is why we switched.”

  7. It might seem like a good idea to use email to resolve customer issues or to simply solve customer issues wherever they find you. It’s simple. It’s cost-saving. But you know what else it is? Messy and risky. Messy, because your communications with customers are all over the place. There’s not a single, unified platform to manage your customers. Risky, because you can easily overlook customers’ messages from email. While it may be unintentional, you are more likely to neglect your customer issues and lose them, which isn’t exactly good for business. Enter customer service software.

  8. Customer-feedback surveys are everywhere: at the bottom of cash-register receipts, at the end of phone calls with customer-service reps, and clogging the email inbox. Recently, I saw an electronic touch screen in an airport bathroom, soliciting my impression of cleanliness.

This barrage underscores the importance that many companies now place on customer experience. But it has diminishing returns, as many people don't want to answer more surveys. No wonder that response rates have been declining for years. Yet without feedback, how can companies keep in touch with their customers' needs and priorities?

  9. The greatest invention since the wheel has got to be the internet. With the internet, we are given unprecedented access to so much information. Not only that, but we are also able to share information with people who we would never even personally meet.

Along the lines of sharing information, users are now able to provide public feedback on various goods and services that they recently availed. These reviews can either make or break a business.

Now it may seem obvious that businesses that receive positive reviews are naturally recommended to the public and that businesses that have mostly negative reviews are avoided by the general public. What isn’t obvious is how these reviews are psychologically affecting the purchasing decisions of users.

  10. Listening to your customers and using the feedback generated is widely considered essential to business success, so how do you make sure the your Voice of the Customer investment and activities will make a difference?

We looked at a recent report on the effectiveness of the Voice of the Customer by Temkin Group which reveals that while the majority of companies have customer feedback activity in place there are some key factors which are essential for success and which will help to identify the (often elusive) Return on Investment (ROI).
