  1. Understanding consumer habits and how customers think and feel about your businesses can be key to success, but conducting paper or online surveys doesn’t always yield the best results, (and how often do people actually take the time to fill those out anyway); a Toronto-based company is attempting to solve this problem by updating the world of customer feedback with its interactive chatbot.

Chatter Research says it can increase response rates by 800 per cent and gather more data about the customer experience using its artificial intelligence-powered chatbot. It’s being recognized by the Information Technology Association of Canada as the Spark winner at the 2018 Ingenious Awards.

  2. Rapid technological advances have created opportunities for smaller companies to serve customers around the world and effectively compete with larger companies for new customers. These smaller companies are rapidly going global, deploying a variety of technology-enabled solutions such as automated call centers, customer service bots, and digital marketing intelligence.

But these advances, designed to facilitate customer interaction and service in new ways, can present a danger. Companies that embrace the various forms of new customer-focused technology risk losing a personal connection with their customers and a nuanced understanding of their needs. When it comes to understanding how your company can better serve customers, email surveys are no substitute for real human contact.

  4. We’re very happy to announce that the release of our newest machine learning (ML) technology – automatic feedback categorisation – was a successful one! As a next step, we want to make sure our users know how to get the most out of this new feature. That is why we’ve created this little guide to Mopinion’s New Machine Learning Technology.

  5. It’s easy to see a world in which the predictive capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) will direct who we have with children with, where we live and what our next job should be. All based on the algorithm’s ever-deepening knowledge of our habits, location, family circumstances and personality.

In reality, few of us would want our lives ruled by a self-teaching algorithm. But for the majority of consumer businesses, AI (an umbrella term that includes natural language processing and machine learning) is a potentially transformative force, providing vital insights into what is happening and what is likely to happen. Advances in AI mean that what customers feel about a company or brand will drive significant change in business. These are fast-developing capabilities that no consumer-facing business can ignore if it wishes to maintain its competitive edge.

  6. Predicting the future is tough, so we decided to talk those who are shaping it. Dave Fish, founder of CuriosityCX and Michigan State University visiting lecturer partnered with Brian Keehner of the Michigan State master of science in marketing research program to interview more than a dozen of the sharpest technology minds from global enterprise feedback management firms to get their take on the future.

What are some of the big strategic bets the major players are making in the CX space? There was quite a bit of agreement, but also some noticeable divergence on the vision for the future. That spanned from data collection and ingestion, all the way to how to help clients take action. Here are the six key discussion points from our conversation.

  7. Cutting-edge companies are turning to artificial intelligence and machine learning to transform how they interact with customers, strengthening those relationships, distinguishing themselves from competitors, and increasing revenues.

At the center of this transformation are technologies such as chatbots, recommendation engines, personalized communications, intelligent ad targeting, and image recognition. Gartner analyst John-David Lovelock predicts that AI-derived business value will more than triple to $3.9 trillion by 2022 — with improvements to the customer experience key to this growth.

  9. The pace of change in the world of B2B is famously rapid, which makes the task of generating impactful strategies difficult: no sooner have you settled on and refined your plan of action going forward than you realize a competitor is achieving results with a technique or tactic you’d never even heard of, let alone mastered. The increasing sophistication of artificial intelligence makes this unavoidable to a degree, but the best thing you can do is cover all bases, frequently refresh your knowledge of the emerging technologies, and commit wholeheartedly to your own tailored, data-driven processes.

  10. Artificial Intelligence is everywhere. From Google’s Arts & Culture App—which uses facial recognition technology to match selfies to thousands of artworks—to Pizza Hut’s plans for driverless pizza delivery.

The application of Artificial Intelligence to improve the customer experience is on the rise. In fact, this year the Consumer Electronic Show featured its first ever Artificial Intelligence Marketplace to showcase the latest innovations designed to perform human tasks. Products ranged from big data analytics to speech recognition to advanced decision-making to predictive technology. Many of these solutions are already being leveraged by great companies to add a magic touch to their services.

Are you taking advantage? If not, here are three ways you can apply Artificial Intelligence to improve your customer experience.
