  1. GDPR may be one of the hottest topics in the business world today, causing many organizations to rethink and revise how they approach many of their everyday practices.

The General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR for short, aims to increase the protection and privacy of personal data, also known as Personally Identifiable Information (PII), for all EU residents.

In the age of the GDPR, consent and managing individual’s rights are crucial. Because of this, Voice of the Customer (VoC) research may become an even more important source of data and insights to marketers wanting to understand better and improve the Customer Experience (CX).

In this post, we look at why.

  2. The ability to collect massive amounts of data represented a huge leap forward in customer service and communication when customer relationship management first hit the market as a marketing, sales and data management tool.

However, CRMs weren't a holy grail. Data management is one thing. Using data to understand what customers really need (not just what you think they do) and how to engage them is another thing entirely.

CRMs were not built to be nimble. Times change, customer expectations change, and the technology needs to change with it.

  4. To improve customer experiences, brands are increasingly turning to data to give them insights and direction. Some of the benefits include helping brands personalize the customer experience. This creates a more enjoyable and memorable moment for customers. In return, they can become repeat customers. Plus, they may tell others about their (hopefully) great experience. Also, a company can pinpoint what works and what needs improvement with the current CX strategy.

  5. Building a learnable website is much tougher than it sounds. The goal should be a clear user experience that visitors can quickly pick up and understand.

Mobile app designers can solve this through onboarding which helps users learn the interface. But websites can’t always offer lengthy tutorials.

Let’s take a look at learnability and see how you can apply these techniques to your websites. Most visitors know how to browse the web so it’s not really about making interfaces that people learn, but rather just following conventions so they’re comfortable using your site.

  6. It may come as a surprise to many of you how much effort is put into developing mobile apps nowadays. And why all the effort? If designed well, your app can give you the upper hand in the battle for market share. Note: the key words here are ‘if designed well’. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case with all mobile apps on the market. Sure, they get the job done, but many of these apps still lack key features their users crave and a strong user experience. Fortunately, there is a remedy for these poorly designed mobile apps that will help put them back on top: in-app feedback.

  9. SAN JOSE — In an effort to amplify their reach into San Jose communities, the city’s civilian police watchdog has launched a new website and text-messaging system to gather citizen feedback and take complaints.

The move is a nod to the evolving modes of communication for younger residents less inclined to make a phone call or show up to the Office of the Independent Police Auditor (which just moved a block away from its previous location).
